Do any of you know any reputable places that sell 6 core Xeons for this chipset Im counting on the market being different for Xeon processors, which might allow me to get one for cheaper than an I7. But then Id need to buy a new OS as well, so if I can get a pretty decent boost over the CPU I got now using the LGA 1155 socket Id consider it. I hear Skylake is just a rehash of Haswell, and not new architecture. If they support the 4 bins thing, which Im not sure of - edit: it doesnt - that would be 3.3.4 maybe.2 turbo 3.9GHz 3.5 GHz. So Id say you cant get a boost over your current 2500k. Youre only looking at about 50-60 difference if you sell the 2500k. Hyperthreading generally provides less than 30 additional throughput, so itd be more of a side-grade for multithreading, and a downgrade for singlethreaded stuff. Im counting on the market being different for Xeon processors, which might allow me to get one for cheaper than an I7. Itll likely cost around 500, and Ill basically have a brand new PC. Im considering buying a new tower that has better airflow like a HAF-X. Id probably give the CPU, MB, RAM, and PC-A70F tower to my brother whos still using a Phenom II x4. I5 2500k 4.2ghz is a bottleneck in a few of the new games like DAI and Witcher 3. Not a huge bottleneck, but it hits 100 usage on 4 cores in spots. I can otherwise max out DAI with a 390 minus MSAA and get solid 60fps, and the few dips I get directly coincide with CPU usage hitting 100. I believe both of those games are capable of using more than 4 cores or threads, so a CPU with 8 threads would spread the workload out and not give me bottlenecks as easily.
